Choosing a Realtor® isn’t simply about finding someone who can unlock a door or put your home in the MLS. You’re choosing someone who may help guide you through one of the largest transactions you’ll make. So ask questions. And yes—that includes asking questions before choosing me.
Do They Listen? A good consultation shouldn’t feel like someone waiting for you to stop talking so they can begin their sales pitch. Your goals matter. Your concerns matter.
Your timeline matters. Before I begin talking strategy, I want to understand what you’re actually trying to accomplish. Do They Explain the Process? You shouldn’t feel like important decisions are happening around you while you’re left wondering what’s going on.
Ask how the agent communicates. Ask how they prepare clients. Ask how questions and challenges are handled throughout the transaction. A knowledgeable client can make informed decisions.
Do They Understand the Market? Real estate is local. What’s happening nationally doesn’t always tell you exactly what’s happening with your property, neighborhood, price point, or home search. Your Realtor® should be willing to look at the relevant data and explain what it may mean for your situation.
How Do They Approach Negotiation? Negotiation isn’t simply asking for a lower price when buying or demanding more money when selling. Price matters, but so can timelines, financing, concessions, contingencies, inspections, and other contract terms. Strong negotiation starts with understanding your priorities.
Do They Communicate? Real estate transactions involve deadlines, documents, questions, and multiple professionals. Communication matters. You should understand how and when you’ll hear from your agent and feel comfortable asking questions when you need clarity.
Do Their Values Align With Yours? This matters to me. My business is built around faith, integrity, and excellence. That means serving people well, communicating honestly, and telling you what I believe you need to know—not simply what sounds good.
Sometimes professional guidance means celebrating with you. Sometimes it means slowing down and asking another question. And sometimes it means telling you we need additional information before making a decision. Choose Someone You Trust
Experience matters. Knowledge matters. Professionalism matters. But you’re also going to communicate with this person through decisions, deadlines, negotiations, celebrations, and possibly stressful moments.
Choose someone you trust. And if you’re considering me, let’s have a conversation. Tell me what you’re trying to accomplish. Ask your questions.
Let’s see whether we’re the right fit. No pressure. That’s how I believe a professional relationship should begin.
